Electric Motors
Electric motors control the torque and speed input on a drive system. There are two main categories of electric motors: alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC). AC motors are used for applications requiring constant speed and torque. Types of AC motors include gear motor, induction, linear, synchronous and servo. DC motors are useful for applications where speed must be adjustable and high initial torque is required. A DC motor consists of a magnetic stator and rotor. Types of DC motors include servo, gear motor, brushless, linear, and coreless.
